Barbara Nice and Gals
Hosted by Mrs. Barbara Nice
With Shazia Mirza, Jen Brister, Juliet Meyers, Katie Mulgrew and Persephone Lewin

Local housewife and mother of five, Mrs. Barbara Nice, is celebrating World Mental Health Day in style!

With some of the best of female comic talent in tow - including B'ham comic, critic and TV documentary maker Shazia Mirza - Barbara will be making us all feel better by having a blooming good laugh!

Shazia Mirza:
Shazia Mirza is an award winning British Asian stand up Comedian from Birmingham. She works all over the world and has toured the US, Sweden, Denmark, France, Holland and Germany. She has appeared on CBS 60 Minutes, NBC's Last Comic Standing, and Have I got News for You (BBC).
‘Her laconic one-liners represent something quite unique in modern comedy.’
William Cook, The Guardian

Jen Brister:
Jen is fresh from a third successful show at the Edinburgh Fringe and a tour of Australia. She has also presented shows for BBC Radio 6 Music and starred in Russell Brand & Trevor Lock’s ‘Cloud Cuckoo Land’ for BBC Radio 2.
‘Outrageously Funny’, Metro.
‘Gorgeously talented’, Tim Arthur, Time Out

Persephone Lewin:
She came third in the first round of The Laughing Horse competition 2004 and made a pilot for Channel 4 with Russell Brand in 2005, before establishing herself on the comedy circuit. Persephone was contacted by ITV1’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2010 and played at the Apollo where she made it through to the third round.
‘I found that thoroughly entertaining. I think you should be applauded for your creativity and ingenuity.’ Piers Morgan

Juliet Meyers:
Managing to mix silliness with edginess, Juliet has a chatty style that allows her to interact with the crowd; this makes her much in demand both as a comedian and an MC. She has been bringing her own brand of hilarious, cerebral, observational, gag –driven, (mostly gender non-specific), comedy to the stage for 7 years.
‘Devilish coy look, excellent material with some on the edge gags.’ The Scotsman (4 star review).
‘Had me in stitches with her witty observations and social judgements’ bbc.co.uk ·

Katie Mulgrew:
Daughter of Jimmy Cricket, Katie has inherited his funny bone. She was a finalist in ‘Funny Women’ in 2007, is a regular compere and performer at many comedy venues across the country and is currently supporting The Boy With Tape On His Face on UK theatre tour dates. Charming, witty and with just a hint of a wicked gleam in her eye, Katie's oddball anecdotal humour is a joy to behold.
‘So entertaining’, Chortle.
‘One of the brightest young stand-ups around’. Gigglebeats.
