Board Game Smackdown

With James Cook, Carl Donnelly and Laura Lexx, playing King Of Tokyo.

A firm fixture at the Edinburgh Fringe and Birmingham Comedy Festival, comedian James Cook's Board Game Smackdown sees leading comics play some of the best board games around.

During lockdown, James has moved the show online, attracting such guests as Jason Manford, The Noise Next Door, Paul Sinha, Jared Christmas, Howard Read, Bethany Black and The Mash Report's Steve N Allen, among many others.

For a Birmingham Comedy Festival Special, James is joined by Carl Donnelly and Laura Lexx, along with Lou Atkinson and Dan Evans.

Twice nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award, Carl's many TV appearances include Mock The Week and Russell Howard's Good News. His podcasting antics include Two Vegan Idiots, with Julian Deane, and the British Podcast Awards nominated Babysitting Trevor, with Chris Martin and Trevor Crook.

Comedian, writer and improviser, Laura's opened for the likes of John Bishop, Jason Manford and Russell Kane. Her fictional Twitter thread about being married to Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp, which went viral earlier this year, has led to the publication of her first book - Klopp Actually: (Imaginary) Life with Football's Most Sensible Heartthrob.

James Cook is a comedian, comedy tutor and broadcaster whose involvement with Birmingham Comedy Festival goes back to the very first fest. Very much a cornerstone of the West Mid comedy scene, James' first book, Time Wasting Emoji Quizzes, is out now via Amazon.
