One of the aims of the festival since its inception in 2001, has been to highlight local talent, and 2007's festival continues this endeavour with appearances from Jerry Springer The Opera writer and acclaimed comedian Stewart Lee, Shazia Mirza and Ted Chippington. They're joined by Mrs Barbara Nice, Bullett And Gunn, Ryan Gough and Sheila M, and Paul Jennings and Dean Garbett, amongst others.

Yet to be discovered new talent will be cutting their teeth at several open spots while The Glee are auctioning a slot via eBay, giving one lucky wouldbe comedian the chance to appear on the stage of one of the UK's biggest comedy clubs.

But it's not just about stand-up. Theatre is strongly represented with Mike Leigh's classic Abigail's Party, Conor McPherson's dark Irish comedy The Weir, John Godber's Teechers, the T.S. Eliot inspired Hysteria, Meeting Disorder and The Neighbour's Gurrilla Comedy Tour.

There's also an art exhibition from Freee, the West Mids debut of Bad Film Club, who are resurrecting The Village People, a workshop promoting the health benefits of laughter, a comedy-themed pub quiz and former Bond babe and star of such films as Get Carter and The Wicker Man Britt Ekland in Grumpy Old Women Live.
